Cornish dressage rider Georgia Stokes is taking the equestrian world by storm - riding at the highest level and establishing herself as a well-known breeder.

The St Austell-based rider has achieved the honour of being accepted for the prestigious Concours de Dressage International, which is an international dressage event recognised by the Fédération Equestre Internationale - the world governing body of equestrian sports.

Greatest achievement

This year's event takes place at Keysoe, in Bedfordshire, from March 15th to 17th. The cream of the world's dressage riders will converge at the UK's premier equestrian venue for the three-day event.

Georgia will be taking part on her 13-year-old gelding, Talented Mr Ripley. She is thrilled to have been chosen to take part in the event, which is the first CDI of the year being held on British soil.

Speaking of her achievement of being selected to represent Great Britain at the event, Georgia said, “I was selected straight for this year’s CDI Big Tour International at Keysoe. It's exciting to not be on a waiting list and the line-up is awesome, so that’s my best achievement so far, I guess.”

Competition success

In March 2017, Georgia and Talented Mr Ripley enjoyed success at Keysoe, when they triumphed in the Intermediate I class as part of the British team.

The professional dressage rider competes at Inter 2 level and has won Prix St George and Inter One events, attaining high profile and premier league standards in 2016. Riding the Talented Mr Ripley, she won Somerford’s Premier League Dressage Show in 2016 at Somerford Park, Cheshire.

The annual three-day event attracts eminent, world-class riders. Comprising a line-up of Britain’s dressage elite, the Premier League Dressage show is always well-supported and attracts a high number of entries. The prestigious event is a wonderful opportunity for spectators to watch the world-class medal winners.

Team SOS

Georgia is also a specialist coach for BYRDS (the British Young Riders' Dressage Scheme) and Under-21s and is a member of the family-run competition yard, Team SOS, which produces a small selection of horses and ponies for competitions and for sale.

Having progressed to the top in the field of dressage, as well as riding at the highest level, it has been a natural progression for Georgia to become a respected and well-known breeder.

The Talented Mr Ripley remains her top horse. She was famously reduced to tears when speaking about her much-loved horse in 2017, saying, "He makes all this happen for me."
