The medical hoof boot from Woof Wear have a very unique close fitting design to keep wounds, poultices and dressings clean. The medic boot is highly durable as you can reuse the boots as well as it can be used for both stable and turnout use, allowing your horse to enjoy the freedom instead of being kept in. The boot features a grooved sole for extra grip, as well as a Kevlar interior for durability. It also has an asymmetric zip to give the boot a really close fit and preventing it from opening whilst on the hoof, stopping bedding and other debris from getting inside.

The boot is available in 10 different sizes. Please view the size guide image for fitting details. You may also need to go up a size if your horse will have a shoe on. Th medical boot is machine washable at 30 degrees.

Overreaching

Do not use the Medical Hoof Boot (MHB) in place of an overreach boot to prevent shoe loss. The MHB is not designed for this application and will not protect against overreaching.

If your horse is inclined to overreach then an overreach boot should be used over the MHB to protect both the horse and the MHB from damage.

Measure, Measure, Measure…

The MHB is designed to be a snug fit so it doesn’t fall off. If you do not measure accurately or buy a size too big it can result in damage to the MHB due to the boot being trodden on by the other foot.

Measuring Rules:

  1. Measure width carefully before bandaging, with or without shoe
  2. Choose size per guide (don’t go to next size up)
  3. No need to add extra for dressings

  • The medical boots need to be worn in conjunction with an overreach boot. This is to prevent the horse from treading on the boot and subsequently damaging the medical boot.
